Zachary Steinberg about us on artificial disc replacement surgery in India

Hi,

I’m Zachary Steinberg from Canada and I can guarantee you that if you want to go for Artificial disc replacement, then India is the best place. The reason why I know that India is the best place for Artificial disc replacement because I have gone through this surgery 3 years ago in India and now after completing my 3rd year of surgery I can guarantee you that India would be the best possible choice you could ever have or could ever make. 3 years ago i.e. 2007 had been the most terrible year of my life. I was 47 years of age and was living with my wife Kelly and 2 daughters Samantha and Jenny at Ottawa, Canada. I was working as mine engineer for past 15 years. My live was full of love and happiness but then around the month of June I started to experience slight pain at my back. I thought it might be due to the busy work schedule I had to follow then, so I took few days leave from my work to take some rest. But this did not help me at all as the back pain increased very day. I contacted my family physician and he recommended some pain killers for few days. But as the days went by the pain spread from my back to my lower part i.e. hips and legs. The pain was completely unbearable. I was unable to walk, stand or even sit properly. One day the pain was so sever that I could not even get out of my bed myself. Again I went to my physician. He did my CT scan and then the result was shocking. He told me that my spinal disc has been worn and damaged and the pain might be coming from the damaged disc itself as well as from other structures such as the small joints at the back of the spine (the facet joints). The doctor advised me to go for Artificial disc replacement surgery as soon as possible.

I asked my physician for more information onto this surgery. After knowing the price of the surgery I was shocked to death. The cost of the surgery was beyond my ability but there was no other option as I had to undergo this surgery to come out of my back pain. My life had come to a complete stand still at that time. I enquired with my insurance company if they could pay for the surgery. But the insurance company said that they could just pay ¼th of the surgery cost. After subtracting ¼th cost, still the price of surgery was very high. Then I went to other surgeon for second opinion if there was any other option available, but then he also after going through my reports told me that Artificial disc replacement surgery was my last option. This news had completely shaken my entire family because from where can we arrange for the cost of the surgery was the main problem we were facing. Then one day my younger daughter suggested me to search on the net about the surgery and where it could be done at more affordable price. While searching through the net, I found about HealthYatra from India. After going through their entire site (www.healthyatra.com), I immediately contacted for more details about the cost and procedure for the surgery. When he mailed me the price quotation of the surgery I was shocked to see the difference in the cost. It was almost 30% less the price (quoted in Canada) which included surgery cost, hotel stay for my family, traveling cost and visa charges. But then the question of going to a country that I had never been before made me to think about the trip one more time. I discussed my concerns with HealthYatra Consultant and he was so understandable to my concerned question and made me available the phone conversation with the other patients who had come to India for Artificial disc replacement surgery. After talking to them and hearing about their positive experience I then finally decided to go for the treatment to India.

From the time I boarded the flight for Delhi in India, I was awed by the entire arrangements made for me and my wife who had accompanied me for my treatment to India. Whatever service was promised was completely fulfilled. We didn’t have to worry about the visa, air tickets, hotel accommodation nothing. Everything was arranged by HealthYatra Consultant and his firm. When our flight landed at Delhi airport, me and my wife was full of anxiety about the surgery procedure and its outcome. But the warm welcome at the airport made us fell so relaxed and comfortable. Then we were taken to a very luxurious hotel where they had arranged mine and my wife’s accommodation. The nest day I was straight taken to the hospital without any delay. I was amazes to see the entire treatment was so systematically planned and arranged. They had booked the hotel close to the hospital to save the traveling time and inconvenience of traffic if any. The moment I reached the hospital I was amazed to see Medical Coordinator already waiting at the hospital with the spine surgeon who was to conduct my surgery. The spine surgeon explained me everything from why was I facing this problem, what will be the procedure of the surgery, how much time the surgery will take, post surgery precautions and etc. After talking with the surgeon I gained my confidence back of living a normal life again, that I hade lost some days ago. A new ray of light and hope was shown to me by the doctors. I was admitted the same day. The infrastructure and staff at the hospital was way beyond my imagination. High tech modern technology was used for any medical treatment. The staffs working at the hospital were well versed in English and well trained and experience in their work. I was also appointed a dietician who calculated my entire diet schedule for my better recovery. Then next day I was taken to the operation theater for my Artificial disc replacement surgery. After my surgery I was moved to ICU for 2 day for better monitoring of my health and recovery after the surgery. Within 5 days of my surgery I could experience the difference. I was able to sit, stand and walk with the support of the hospital staff. I was also appointed a physiotherapist as after Artificial disc replacement surgery, the surgical area becomes stiff. With the help of physiotherapy the stiffness was reduced too much extent. With every passing day I could experience the difference in my health that showed all positive signs. I m thankful to Medical Coordinator and his HealthYatra staff who made a regular visit to the hospital to enquire about my health and my well being. After 10 day of stay in the hospital I was discharged from the hospital.

I had always heard and read about the varied culture and heritage of India in books, newspapers, magazines, movies and net and this has always fascinated me. I was always fascinated to see the Taj Mahal the 8th wonder of the world and this was also made possible by HealthYatra Medical Coordinator firm. The next day of my discharge, they arranged a flight to Agra (200km away from Delhi) for me and my wife. The hotel accommodation at Agra was very beautiful. We were made to stay at a royal palace that bought us more close to India’s vast and huge royal culture. The trip to Taj Mahal was the most memorable one. The beauty of Taj Mahal just caught me spell bounded. We also visited the impressive Agra Fort and the fabulous city of Fatehpur Sikri near Agra. I was amazed by the diverse cultural heritage of India. My trip to these places in Agra was arranged keeping in mind my surgery and made it as comfortable as possible. After 2 days stay in Agra we headed back to Delhi. The next day I was again taken to my surgeon for the final check up where he told me the entire do’s and don’t that I needed to follow for the next few weeks and told me that I was responding positively to the surgery and the recovery was fast. The next day we boarded the flight back to Canada. The entire experience from the day I landed in Indiato the day I left India, has been the most memorable and positive experience of my life. I am thankful to HealthYatra Medical Consultant team for making my trip such a fruitful one at such an economical and low cost. The entire trip from surgery to my trip to Agra costed me half of what would have costed me only for the surgery in Canada.  Now it has been 3 years since my Artificial disc surgery and now I m living a very normal life with my wife and my daughters.

Thanks
Zachary Steinberg
